The Knights 4 Uttoxeter, a group which works to raise money for the benefit of individuals, families and small community groups in and around the town, is seeking new members.

Since the group was established in 2013 the Knights have donated over £28,000 locally, in the form of grants or other aid. Recent examples include the provision of four chairs for the use of senior citizens attending Balance Street Health Centre, laptops and laser printer for the YeSS (Youth Emotional Support Service) organisation in Carter Street and a karaoke machine for the Uttoxeter Gateway Club plus equipment for St Lawrence Church in Bramshall.

In addition the Knights have provided five heart defibrillators around the town and contributed to the provision of three others.

Chairman Rupert Hill said: “First and foremost we are a social club and our aim is to enjoy and have fun in all that we do, both in our socialising and in our fundraising.

“We are currently aiming to boost our funds through a prize draw with a prize of a bicycle to be chosen by the winner. Tickets are available from Uttoxeter Cycles or Bradley House Club or any Knights member.

“Quite apart from donating equipment, we are also involved in a number of practical initiatives. For example, we organise a Christmas market at the time of the switch-on of the Christmas lights and we provide a Christmas meal for over 100 local senior citizens.

“Potential new members – men or women – are very welcome to join us at one our meetings to find out more about us. We meet at Bradley House at 8 o’clock on the third Monday of each month.”
