KNIGHTS SUPPORT LOCAL YOUNG VOLUNTEER

The latest recipient of support from the Knights 4 Uttoxeter is Charlie Ead, a senior pupil at Thomas Alleyne High School, who is off to Vietnam and Laos.

Charlie is part of a 48 strong group intending to work with local villages to build or refurbish schools and village amenities in the two countries.

Jack Inman of the Knights explained:  “Charlie was required to raise £4350.00 to take part in the trip, as well as to provide personal equipment.  By organising numerous ‘nearly new’ fashion shows, taking a part time job, car boot and on-line sales she succeeded with time to spare. We then became involved and donated all Charlie’s outdoor equipment including two rucksacks, a sleeping bag and boots.”

The Knights raise money locally and distribute it to local good causes and individuals. They are currently aiming to boost their funds through a prize draw with a prize of a bicycle to be chosen by the winner. Tickets are available from Uttoxeter Cycles, Bradley House Club or any Knights member.

Mr Inman added: “We always welcome new members and anyone interested – male or female – is very welcome to join us at one our meetings to find out more about us. We meet at Bradley House at 8 o’clock on the third Monday of each month.”
